I agree with you about Joni Ernst. I foolishly thought she would thank Rand Paul then say something about what a great opportunity it was to remind people that learning about life saving measures is so important. That someone with that knowledge literally saved her life. Gave her way too much credit. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the broadcasting primer Dave. I think our 45th president's world view is very aptly represented by his de facto information minister Sean Hannity every week night at 8 p.m. Central. Flipping between Sean on Fox News and Rachel Maddow or Alex Wagner on MSNBC is an interesting contrast in the marketplace of ideas, to be sure. Sean dishes it out as hard on President Biden as the network opposite does on his immediate predecesor and the endless ennui of his ongoing legal troubles. In contrast, CNN does actual news, like the Israel-Hamas war and actually has "Rs" as well as "Ds," as guests. Even President 45 himself, in prime time.

You hear Hannity and his patrone use the same jingoistic catch phrases like "deep state," "Sleepy Creepy Joe," "Shifty Schiff" and the like. Their fans love it.

I must admit I have to chuckle a bit when they refer to MSNBC as "MSDNC" because a couple of that network's "infotainment" shows definitely break that way . Especially Lawrence F. O'Donnell Jr' s "The Last Word." The former producer of "The West Wing" has a penchant for putting on a string of his Massachusetts political cronies, dark horse Democratic candidates for various offices and show biz buddies. Mr. O'Donnell even showed clips of himself portraying ficticious President Jed Bartlett's (Martin Sheen's) dad on "The West Wing" to demonstate his solidarity with striking SAG-AFTRA workers. How very narcissistically magnanimous of him.

But when I've had my fill of him, Hannity or anyone else, there's one thing I do that I would respecfully recommend to our 45th president:

Dude. Change the channel. Or turn the damn thing off and go play golf or something.

Pat, I agree MSNBC goes too far over the line. But they’re nowhere near the slant Fox uses. Lawrence is a bit much for me, too.

I had the same reaction to Ernst. Disgusted by turning a life saving moment into a political crack. So tired of it.

Glad to hear it wasn’t only me, Julie.
