This was a hideous display of denial.

If anyone ever doubted the MAGA Party's (no longer GOP) not-so-subtle push for Christian Nationalism, Mike Johnson is now their High Priest. The fact that his legislative compass is centuries-old scripture should scare the hell out of most modern, common sense Americans.

You are spot on, as always. I have come to understand that people like Johnson have no character. That's how they can look themselves in the mirror every morning. David Weiss

Thank you. The instant mocking of the reporter was sinister.

Franklin, Tennessee just ran a right wing crackpot for mayor. The woman embraced neo Nazi assistance, admitted she was convicted of working in prostitution in Dallas and made other bizarre statements. The local news media was all over the story for a month and she lost by nearly 4 to 1. Why do I tell this story? Because in this instance this area had a “Walter Cronkite moment”.

There was no local news channel dominated by conservatives broadcasting rebuttals about the coverage, claiming she was a victim of an unjust judicial system. People realized the candidate was a creep. Fox News is saving the federal wing nuts. If the Franklin mayoral candidate had a Fox News in her corner one can be assured the vote would have been much closer.

We all must hear this! So I appreciate you using 45 minutes of your time to spare me only having to spend a few minutes on reading your analysis on this exasperating subject. I will try to use my extra 40 minutes for something more positive.

There was much to contest and Johnson was right to contest it. He was in the constitutionally designated forum.

Thanks Dave for using your column to make this point. The Rachel Scott question should be asked of Johnson on a daily basis, just as our federal delegation should be asked to defend their votes for Johnson.

Much thanks for voicing my equal frustration when I watched and heard “shut up” from his groupies.

Same play as always. I call the game "duck and cover, "in every possible situation. I am afraid for our democracy.

Unfortunately, the speaker’s choice of Hannity follows a protocol that is all too common. In 2020, after the White House ATTACKED Voice of America in a misleading post and from the presidential podium, the Senate relented and approved a years-old appointment to the head of the overall agency. The winner, Michael Pack, would only talk with writers and broadcasters from right wing media outlets. No tough but fair questions and, in fact, Pack joked that he would make federal employees come to work without masks (before vaccines) to the approving chortle of a podcast host from The Federalist.

Pete Buttitieg, Transportation Secy, has been particularly effective in appearing on Fox “News,” more effective than Dems who choose MSNBC. Thank you for this column, Dave.
