Dave: I'm agreeing to disagree. At the end of the day, I'm tired of paying more for everything. I'm tired of trying to get out Afghan journalists who helped me and the ISAF/Coalition team for many years and they're still stuck in Kabul-3 years and counting and I'm tired of a bloated bureaucracy that cut corners every step of the way. We do not need more of this. You can't sweep this under the rug or put your head in the sand. "Comfort talk" with no action and more of the same failures will not put mustard on my hotdog.
Ok, thanks for your input. I would only counter that high prices are a world-wide economic trend. Not sure what you would have had Biden-Harris do about that. Wages are also up significantly, which people seem to ignore. And at least we’re out of Afghanistan, which Trump never got done. But it sounds as if you have first-hand knowledge of the situation that I do not, so I am not in a position to argue.
Dave: I lived it overseas and watched the current administration FAIL at every stage. Who takes out the military first? Not SunTzu. Who allows Bagram AFB base to shutter in the middle of the night (July 2021). That idiotic FUBAR/SNAFU allowed 5,000 ISIS/Taliban prisoners to jump the shark and storm the country... This is just Afghanistan. 3 years later to the day, I'm still helping Afghan journos in Kabul via safe houses, money, and sanity. WE did this! We now have more enemies than friends. You can't make this up.
I haven't even tapped into the fiasco happening here in America. I have seen evil up close and personal and I don't like the devil's cooking...
Well said Dave and I thought she pushed the gotcha questions too much as well. We really cannot go back to the vile presidency we know we will get with Trump. Lift each other up!
I’m all for tough but fair questions, so long as there is balance. She seemed almost reluctant to ask some of those questions, as if realizing the criticism she would receive if she didn’t appear tough enough. Hope all is well with you and your family, Julie.
Dave, another great article and congrats on two years! I always love reading your perspective and once again, right on. Her response to the race question was perfect.
“The measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you beat down instead of where I believe most Americans are, which is to believe the true measure of the strength of a leader is who you lift up.”
This resonated with me, too. I wanted to stand up and cheer.
I also loved her articulation of her respect for and loyalty to Biden.
Great article to mark your two year anniversary. The Harris-Walz interview was indeed a low-key affair, so sadly, it will not likely be heard by many who need to hear it. The chaos-seeking media will yawn and sweep it under the rug, and instead waste ink and broadcast time with the next idiotic, insulting thing Trump will say or do. Some on the left think that's a good strategy: just let him talk. We'll see how many train wrecks Americans will gawk at before they finally turn away.
We do seem pathologically addicted to train wrecks. Otherwise known as viral moments. And sadly, too many Americans don’t delve any deeper than what they see in their social media feeds or in political ads on TV. It’s ironic that at a time when more information is available than ever before, too many people don’t do the required work to be informed. I don’t know how else to explain it.
The interview was fair and the so-called ‘gotcha questions” were appropriate—not overboard. Journalists are supposed to ask the questions that we who cannot be there in person would ask especially if the candidates have changed their position overtime and why? Vice President Kamala Harris handled herself well. Now we will see how both she and Donald Trump do in the presidential debate.
Great analysis of this eye of calm in the midst of the media hurricane. Regardless of the supposed irregularity of this team appearing together, it is pretty standard - recent examples include John McCain and Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine. In fact, Trump and JD Vance were interviewed together on Fox News in July. Credit to media reporter Bill Goodykoontz of the AZ Republic for this information.
Another great column. Congratulations on two years! Here’s to many more!
Excellent analysis, as always.
exactly my thoughts. thanks.
Excellent analysis!
Thanks, Rodger. Hope all is well.

Unending deficit spending by Harris/Biden are the cause for US inflation. Not some world-wide economic issues. Econ 101, Dave.
I also agree. And to your point, the response to nearly every Harris counterpoint is “consider the alternative”. That’s unthinkable.
Right. As Biden said, don’t compare me to the Almighty. Compare me to the competition.

Thank you for writing the Truth!!

Pretty much says it all.

Spot on, Mark. Although Walz was almost a non-factor last night.
As always: you are spot-on! Grateful for your voice and perspective!
And congrats on two years!
Thanks, Terri!
