Well said, Dave. Our justice system failed us when it comes to Donald Trump, and the lessons will do untold damage, to the courts and our country, for years to come.

Well said, Dave. A glimmer of hope.

Tiny for sure but maybe that’s the hope, with the lower courts. The Supreme Court is no longer supreme. Vent away Dave!

The United States Supreme Court is embarrassing. Those of us that have always held the justice system to the highest standards are so disappointed.

👍hope springs eternal...but how long will it take for the pendulum to swing back?!

I used to think it would swing every two years or so but it seems like the swing out to the right is so far it’s going to take a lot longer to swing back.

"Unconditional discharge" - what does that mean anyway? I'm still stuck on the idea that a convicted felon could become president. How is that legal?

For what it’s worth, Michael Cohen was on MSNBC last night and he said in all his decades as a NY lawyer, he’s never even heard of unconditional discharge. Said he researched it and couldn’t find any other cases where that was the sentence. Bottom line, though, I think it’s a wise move by Judge Merchan to at least get the conviction through. Anything more serious likely would have been blocked by the Supreme Court. It almost blocked this slap on the wrist. Trump gets every break in the book, quite contrary to his constant complaints.

Convicted felon is to be president--hard to believe. Even harder to believe, 77mil Americans voted for this felon. Hope this link is "legal" in your comments but it struck a note with me.

David, thanks for the link. He hits the nail on the head. It’s a lot easier to sit back and complain than to do the hard work of getting involved to help fix a situation that isn’t working.

I still find it hard to believe this man is our next president.

Agree. It’s the most distressing thing about our current situation - that our neighbors, friends and relatives could vote for this guy.

What do informed people in other nations think about the United States now? It's safe to say they are not impressed. We still hold the purse strings but from a moral or ethical position we have surrendered our longtime leadership of the free world.

Trump likes to say we’ve been the laughing stock under Biden, when (as usual) quite the opposite is true.

Right on, Dave! Thanks!
